August 25 we will show "The Story of Stuff" with Annie Leonard, a 20 minute, fact-filled, fast-paced film explaining the where, what, how, and why of our production, consumption and waste patterns. It exposes the connection between environmental and social issues, and what we can do to promote a sustainable lifestyle. The film will be followed by discussion and activities the whole family will enjoy and learn from.

From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

September 22 we will hold a speaker forum.
Chris Tanner, Public Works Director for Archuleta County will provide information on the issues surrounding our local recycling efforts. We will continue the discussion, and with plans to form a citizen's task force now is the time to get informed.

Make plans to attend both of these special programs...
