The mission of SOS is to promote a sustainable community—one which balances the needs of the economy, society and environment. The Mission of the Pagosa Farmers Market is to provide a venue for local and regional Growers & food Producers and Makers to sell their goods to benefit themselves, our community and the earth.
The Southwest Organization for Sustainability (SOS) is in its 15th year as sponsor of the Pagosa Farmers Market.
In 2007, SOS partnered with the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce and held a farmers market on Sundays in July and August in response to community demand for fresh local food in Pagosa. It was determined in 2008 that SOS, as a non-profit organization, would sponsor the event going forward. Grant funding from the Pagosa Area Tourism Board has helped the market build over the years. Fees have been kept low to encourage local small growers to participate. The market accepts SNAP/EBT (food stamps) as well as debit cards.
The location, time and day have changed over the years. Responding to a need for an improved location in 2014, the Market moved to downtown Pagosa adjacent to the Eastside Market on Pagosa Street. In 2024, the market moved to the Tennyson Sculpture Garden and Park on Lewis Street for one season and then moved again in 2025 to St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church on South Pagosa Blvd, due to the highway construction down town.
